Group 'A'
Attempt (Any Three) questions: [3x6=18]
1. State the parallelogram law of vector addition. Hence, derive the magnitude and direction of the resultant vector.
2. What is simple harmonic motion? Show that the motion of simple pendulum is simple harmonic and hence derived its time period.
3. Prove that Cp -Cv = R for 1 mole of an ideal gas. Explain why Cp is greater than Cv.
4. What is lens maker's formula? Derive the lens maker's formula for a convex lens.
Group 'B'
Attempt (Any Six) questions. [6x3=18]
5. Prove that the total mechanical energy of a freely falling body under the gravity is constant.
6. Obtain an expression for orbital velocity of an artificial satellite.
7. State the principle of conservation of angular momentum. How is angular momentum related to the torque acting on a body?
8. Does the supplied heat always increase the temperature of a substance? Explain.
9. State and explain Stefan's Law of black body radiation.
10. Show that when a mirror is rotated through certain angle, the reflected ray is deviated through double the angle.
